The Adventures of a Plastic Bottle!

This week, we discovered what happens to a water bottle after we throw it in a recycling bin. When we first met, Miss Kristin and I found out that everyone at Champions had a good idea of what things can be recycled, but weren't sure what happened to them afterwards. So this week, we learned that a plastic water bottle once recycled is chopped up into little bits and melted into new things such as, soccer balls, toys, chairs, purses, and clothes. We also we learned that over 10 million water bottles are made every day, and only 1 out of 4 get recycled! That's why it's so important that we all learn to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The 3 R's

Last time, we learned that the 3R's stand for reduce, reuse, and recycle. We also discovered that reduce means to use less, reuse means to use something again, and recycle means to make something new. We had a really good time getting a chance to know everyone at Champions and look forward to our next meeting.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

For the next five meetings we will be learning about how we can make a difference by reducing, reusing and recycling.
